The ISM has organized and held an annual congress in three languages (French, Italian, and Russian), bringing together around 200 participants, approximately 100 in person and 100 online. The themes are always structured along the line: “Psychoanalysis Facing...”
The first congress was held on **September 30, 2023, in Bergamo**, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the SIM, with the title:
**“Psychoanalysis Facing Family, Professional, and Social Violence”**.
Although the other institutes chose not to participate, this conference attracted a large audience and featured a wide range of high-level presentations.
The proceedings of the congress were published in Italian in the first volume of the series *Psychoanalysis Facing...*, under the title:
**“Psychoanalysis Facing Family, Professional, and Social Violence”**,
edited by B. Marzi and D. Lysek, published by Armando.
The volume can be ordered from the Armando website or on Amazon. We strongly recommend purchasing it: it is a truly micropsychoanalytic work, containing high-level texts, all clearly written. We believe it succeeds in the challenge of being interesting both to specialists (analysts, psychologists, doctors, educators...) and to the general public. We insist: it is truly worth buying, as it is the only recently published printed volume on micropsychoanalysis.
We say “printed” because the online site *Psychoanalysis and Science* contains numerous interesting micropsychoanalytic articles (as well as multidisciplinary texts).
Speaking of *Psychoanalysis and Science*, we would like to highlight that this site is widely read—over 40,000 visits per week—and is very well rated in website reviews. It was created and is managed by Quirino Zangrilli, who carries out enormous work day after day to keep it at a high standard. We encourage you to consult it regularly, as we are confident you will find texts that interest you or that you can recommend to others.
At the same time, the **proceedings of the 2023 Bergamo Congress** were also published in **Russian** by the **Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis (MIP)**, edited by B. Marzi.
From **May 1 to 4, 2024**, in **Almaty**, the ISM conducted a **training course** in collaboration with the MIP on the topic of **violence against women and minors**.
Participants in this course included D. Lysek, G. Marzi, B. Marzi, Q. Zangrilli, along with R. Cutajar and L. Kovarskis, director of the Faculty of Psychoanalysis at MIP.
Our latest congress took place in **Fiuggi, on October 5, 2024**, and we thank **Quirino Zangrilli**, who organized it with great skill: warm hospitality and impeccable organization. The **proceedings of this congress** have been published in **Italian** by Armando under the title:
**“Psychoanalysis Facing Contemporary Eating Disorders”**,
edited by G. Marzi and Q. Zangrilli. The book is already available on major online platforms.
We are also engaged in long-term activities. For instance, in **2022–23–24–25**, a **group supervision course** has been ongoing in collaboration with MIP. Also in **2022–23–24–25**, we have been running a course on:
**“The Foundations of Micropsychoanalysis – Theory and Practice”**,
as part of the “specialization in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy” program at MIP.
From **September 24 to 27, 2025**, a **training course** will be held in **Bergamo**, in collaboration with MIP and IPA Sullivan, titled:
**“Psychoanalysis Facing Sexuality: Contemporary Expressions”**.
Bergamo is an Italian city located near Milan, in the Lombardy region. It is easily accessible by all means of transportation. This course will focus on sexuality. It is naturally open not only to all ISM members but also to non-members.
We hope to welcome many participants, both specialists and non-specialists.
We also hope that leaders from other institutes will take part, spread the word, and encourage their members to attend. We can assure you they will be warmly welcomed and given the honors they deserve.
Those interested can find all information about the program on the new ISM website at the addresses:

The **Bergamo meeting** will also be the occasion for the next **Ordinary General Assembly (OGA)** of the ISM, for which members will receive official notice in accordance with the statutes.
Alongside its activities aimed at the general public, ISM organizes **continuing education seminars** in group format.
**Basic training** is conducted through individual didactic analysis, according to our method.
I want to emphasize that we currently have a **significant number of people in training**, which bodes well for the future of micropsychoanalysis.
One final word to mention our publications:
* B. Marzi and D. Lysek (eds.), 2024, *Psychoanalysis Facing Family, Professional, and Social Violence*. Armando Ed.
* G. Marzi and Q. Zangrilli (eds.), 2025, *Psychoanalysis Facing Contemporary Eating Behaviors*. Armando Ed.
* B. Marzi (ed.), *Психоаналитический подход к вопросу насилия*, MIP Ed., Moscow
The ISM has numerous activities that not only comply with the statutory rules of the SIM but go well beyond them.
It is expanding and showing great dynamism, to the point of promoting micropsychoanalysis in an exemplary manner.
Our members are determined to continue the work begun. Everything points to a fruitful future for ISM and to its continued significant contribution to the development and dissemination of micropsychoanalysis.
